much better than the others, still issues Finally there’s a plot beyond “get rescued and have lots of sex while becoming acclimated to new home and life under masculine dominance”... In this book there’s a real story (plus lots of sex—as there is in all of Wroth’s books that I’ve read). Another positive thing: at least this story doesn’t include Wroth’s justifications for husbands spanking their wives for ‘disobeying’ them, something that disturbs me greatly, though unfortunately it does include much better than the others, still issues Finally there’s a plot beyond “get rescued and have lots of sex while becoming acclimated to new home and life under masculine dominance”... Another positive thing: at least this story doesn’t include Wroth’s justifications for husbands spanking their wives for ‘disobeying’ them, something that disturbs me greatly, though unfortunately it does include Wroth’s notion that husbands are meant to be stronger than their wives and protect them no matter what. She sugarcoats this by saying the men should stand behind their wives when they need support and stand beside their wives when they need assistance, but claims that in the end, it’s the man’s right to protect his mate. I just see this as a more responsible patriarchy with more rewards offered the woman, always provided she’s willing to accept the man’s dominance. There are no examples in Wroth universes of a woman more dominant than her partner (guess that’s a result of how her mates are assigned—male partner is always more dominant, though care is taken to match personalities in all other ways). Her universe is also straight heterosexual: I had hopes for the two men who were Tarek’s nannies, but no. They were men who had lost their partners and Sarazens value men raising male cubs as the men can teach the cubs to be truly manly... You know, the more I think about this series, the less I like it. It’s restrictive emotionally and culturally (humans are only truly acceptable because they physically can become Sarazens—otherwise they would just be seen as weak and essentially cubs themselves). The partnerships are all on the female submissive to male end of the scale, even Alec in this book wanted to be dominated by her partner and offered him lots of opportunities to master her. Saraz is a dominant male’s paradise in which women never say no to sex, and men always win even when they lose, because a traitor male who is mated can’t be killed without risking his mate’s life or sanity. It’s also indicative of Wroth’s ideals that so far all the real traitors have been male. The one female we know of (Niora, T’mai’s putative mate) was only a traitor because her brain had been hacked, while a number of males, especially the Original Council members and their adherents, chose treason of their own accord.

3.5 stars. I really love this series and the world Wroth has created. This book has a seriously amazing heroine named Alec. She has survived and been the leader of her people ever since she was a young girl. Reading about their struggle to survive was heart rending. The Scyalla were terrifying! (view spoiler)[He ran off like a little baby (for about a year) not because of fear, but because of pure selfishness. I can forgive and understand fear but self-centeredness is harder to come back from. I think Alec needed the time on her own to grieve and get stronger but Kalix came across like a weak, whiney baby and it took some time for me to grow to like him. He does prove himself and regrets his actions when he see just how kicka$$ his mate is! (hide spoiler)] I thought this book was a little long. There were parts I loved (The planet Meiko, the eventual mating of our h/H, the planet s6). And there were parts that draggggggged for me (most of the first half with the h and H trying to figure their crap out). It just went on too long. I love that Wroth explored their relationship and took the time for the H to grovel and earn Alec's love, but it felt slow to me. This series has really great sci-fi elements. I love the creatures, the planets, the technology. It's all really cool and fun to read about.

An excellent addition to the Sarazen saga. Alec has had to take on leadership at much too young of an age in her colony. Kalix is the Sarazen commander who leads the search for the remaining human colony ships. How the two of them come together is fraught with tension, unendurable pain, trembling hope, and resolute steadfastness in their duties. There are openings for at least two more books in this book, so I truly hope the author doesn't leave me hanging!

What I love about this series, and this author, is the heros of her books truly respect their heroines. Their affection for them isn't just skin deep and the heroines are always super bad ass I LOVE that. Theres never any useless OW drama or any overdone plot devices that are typically used. Every time Ms. Wroth comes out with something new I IMMEDIATELY drop everything I'm doing to read her books. So why not 5 stars? Every time Ms. Wroth comes out with something new I IMMEDIATELY drop everything I'm doing to read her books. So why not 5 stars? Because I'm a total hypocrite thats why. I typically stay away from heroines that are emotionally stunted, as I find them to be annoying and insufferable. Alec (the heroine) was definitely emotionally stunted and I was indifferent to her for nearly half of the book. I was half convinced she was asexual. But an emotionally vacant hero? I'm all in. Give me ten of those any day of the week. So I think its a testament to the authors writing that she can give me a suffering heroine, and still make her a strong woman and a total fighting bad ass. I just wish the heroine had made the turn sooner in the book so we didn't get as much pushing away. Safety gang: Totally 100% safe. -Heroine is a virgin. Hero has had past experience but it was very clinical to him. Definitely not a manwhore, and I imagine he was celibate for some time before he met the heroine. -Pushing away from both sides. Hero knew heroine was his mate from the moment he meets her but pushes her away and theres a years separation between the couple. I didn't mind it because the author gave a good reason for it. See where my hypocrisy is poking through? -No other people were involved. -No other triggers I can think of.

This should have been a 5 star read for me. The emotion and gut wrenching agony IW brings to her characters is amazing, the strength, the passion and the sheer bloody determination to go on no matter what is so well and clearly written it has teeth. I loved how Kalix had to earn his forgiveness, the physiological damage he did by his actions were not just brushed under the rug and forgiven, he had to prove that he was there to stay and work with Alec to build a relationship. Everything I love in a romance was in this story and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting an emotional rollercoaster ride through horrendous creatures, wondrous worlds and sexy Alpha aliens. One line ruined it for me, and I freely admit here that it's my problem not the authors, I loath the word Tame used in conjunction with a woman. It makes my blood boil. Women are not animals, we are not wild things to tame, to be brought to heel, to be made less, made obedient, the Dictionary definition of the word Tame is:- 1. (of an animal) not dangerous or frightened of people; domesticated. synonyms: domesticated, domestic, not wild, docile, tamed, disciplined, broken, broken-in, trained, not fierce, gentle, mild, used to humans; More 2. derogatory not exciting, adventurous, or controversial. synonyms: unexciting, uninteresting, uninspired, uninspiring, dull, bland, flat, insipid, spiritless, pedestrian, vapid, lifeless, dead, colourless, run-of-the-mill, mediocre, ordinary, prosaic, humdrum, boring, tedious, tiresome, wearisome. 3. domesticate (an animal). "wild rabbits can be kept in captivity and eventually tamed" synonyms: domesticate, break, train, master, subdue, subjugate, bring to heel, enslave "wild rabbits can be kept in captivity and eventually tamed" So by saying Kalix had tamed Alec, he'd broken her in, made her colorless, ordinary, not exciting.... less. No man has the right to do that to a woman, and in this day and age I had really hoped that words like that would finally finally no longer have a place in romance books because honestly there is nothing romantic about it.

I love that she was a warrior a fighter to her soul and the introduction of a mate of life changing problems didn't change who she fundamentally was. I loved that both hero and heroine were both strong and a bit aggressive in all areas of their life but could still have a gentle touch when it was needed. I can't wait to see what happens next for this world. And I'm just saying not to spoil anything but when Zyre & Erufir where introduced i was like omg yes they need a book and I want to read it immediately. And I'm really hoping they get there own book and not just a flash in the pan mentioning because I feel like their story would be freaking awesome possibly with a ménage feel i don't know, even if not individually it could be great at least that's the vibe I get. Any who this story was another great addition with so many facets there's no way you could get bored. And in my opinion while this story could be read as a stand alone you will really get more richness and a fuller understanding of you read the others as well. Would definitely recommend.

Happy 'sighs', This story fits well into the series and carries the torch admirably. These books are way up there on my favorites list! The continuing and imaginative world building as well as the fully fleshed out characters are what I am starting to expect from Wroth. I also really like that the heroines are such strong multi-dimensional people. The heroes aren't slouches either. ;) The danger in this story is more original than I've read before and the tension is very visceral. He did come through part way into the story and displayed the remorse I felt was needed. I would have been very disappointed if that hadn't happened. I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys the genre. It combines 2 of my favorite sub-genres. Shifters and aliens. Lastly I would like to thank the author for having her books in KU! As someone on a limited income, I would never have found these stories otherwise. I've also purchased the first books as I've been able to afford them and will be saving up to get this one too. I want to make sure I can read them again whenever I want and yes, I've reread the others at least twice each. :D

Another great Sarazen story! I just can’t tell you how much I enjoy this sci-fi romance series! The authors writing style just resonates with storytelling and the characters she creates are vibrant and realistic. I liked the two main characters of this book very much and felt for both of them for the life they had been through before they meet. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series with anticipation!

Triple To times 4 This book ricks. The story is absolutely the best out there. I have yet to read a correspond theme or plot similar. Alex and Kilar make the best of their situations from start to finish. Where Alex has to protect her people by doing some very hard and unheard of things to Kilar having to overcome his parents decisions and law breaking they both come together with understanding and courage. A MUST READ!!!!!

What a real treat. The author had a plot, interesting characters and good writing skills. I'm so tired of science fiction romance being endless pages of cut and paste sex scenes. I enjoyed that both the H and h were strong protagonist with good survival skills. Even the way Ms Wroth dealt with their issues held my attention - many authors go on and on with preteen angst for endless pages that their books are just boring. This book was refreshing and held my attention.
